Kember & Jones brand identity.

The challenge.

Kember & Jones is a high quality deli and cafe located in Glasgow's West End, aimed at an affluent audience. We were asked to estabish its unique angle, create the name and identity, and develop supporting marketing literature.

The solution.

The description 'Fine Food Emporium’ was used to define what the company offers. The brand identity took influence from French cafe culture, with use of borders and classic typography, which emphasised the quality of the establishment. A secondary K&J brand marque was created for use on menus, signage and labelling. A small rubber stamp is used to apply the secondary marque to display food items. Illustration was commissioned for some printed items including the postcard promoting Christmas hampers – letterpress printed on greyboard for a tactile finish. Versatile handwritten stickers were designed for use on packaging for the variety of take away items which are available within the deli. Handwritten labels add a personal touch and can be applied to any product.

The result.

Kember & Jones has become one of Glasgow's most popular eateries with queues throughout the day. The brand identity has allowed flexibility for the company to expand in new directions including outside catering.
